Represents the hapū/Iwi for the purposes of the Resource Management Act 1991.
RMA Area of Interest: Between the Tararua Ranges and the sea, from the Waikawa River to Forest Lakes (north of Otaki)

Southern Boundary Waikawa and Southern Boundary Manakau

Boundaries are not defined in words anymore.  They are virtually always defined on plans.  The southern boundary of Horowhenua District is currently defined on the new plan of the Waiopehu Ward (prepared this year following a review of the Horowhenua District ward boundaries and representation).

Registered Collector Taonga Tuturu

e Kotahitanga o te Iwi o Ngati Wehi Wehi applied in February 2008 to become a collector of Nga Taonga Tuturu (which is items over 50+years old related to Maori culture and Society. One November 1 2006 the Protected Objects Act came into force. This superseded the Antiquities Act 1975 but in fact added 9 categories of protected objects.

There are specific requirements to becoming a collectors and we have added this for your information. The following declaration was signed when applying for the certificate.
I declare to the best of my knowledge that the contents of this application are true and correct. I undertake to comply with all of the following conditions:
a) I shall only transfer taonga tūturu in my collection to: another registered collector, a public museum, or an auctioneer or secondhand dealer licensed to trade in taonga tūturu (note: if the transfer involves a gift or bequest to a relative, the relative does not need to be registered as a collector).
b) I shall make my collection available for examination by any person so authorised by the Chief Executive of the Ministry for Culture and Heritage.
c) I shall notify the Chief Executive of the Ministry for Culture and Heritage of any change in my collection within 14 days of the change
d) I shall notify the Chief Executive, Ministry for Culture and Heritage within 14 days of any change in the location of the collection.
